I bought this version at Wal Mart and hooked it up to a splitter with a another ge antenna that could only get 8 channels max on it. I don’t even have the Antop antenna outside right but the other one is outside. I have the Antop next to window because on first floor and now I am picking 32 channels now when it said up to 18 max. It still does matter which way you turn the antenna as to how it picks up a stations signal but I’m very satisfied with this purchase. I haven’t kept it outside because someone might swip it but if it were up higher more than the four feet it is up inside I imagine I could get more channels with the current set up.

OK so this antenna is good. Just right out of the box and connected with no power supply for the booster I instantly got 18 channels. With the booster powered up and the antenna standing in the living room floor next to the tv I am receiving 23 channels. No telling how good it will be when outside on my 25 ft. pushup pole. I am probably @ least 50 miles from the closet transmission tower. WOW

I have had this Big Boy Antenna AT400B for over a year and with a 120 Degree Reception it picks up all of the El Paso TV Stations (South 45 miles) and the Las Cruces TV Stations (West 10 miles). Signal Strength and Signal Quality are Great!!!

The picture quality is better than cable

    Robert Hand

I mounted the antenna about 33 feet up on the corner of my roof and ran a cable to the smart TV. That’s all, nothing else needed. We are getting 45 channels with DTV signal and outstanding HD picture. Stop paying for TV content, it should be free. The best scenario for us is streaming media and an antenna like this one (or a more powerful antenna if you live far away from the broadcast sources). Totally worth the money up-front to eliminate the cost of TV from the cable bill.

The antenna was easy to instal and provides perfect reception. I am about 55 miles from the transmission towers and within direct line of sight of them. I have no way to know how well the antenna would work in more difficult reception conditions.

    Excellent antenna

    Wallace

We’ve been suffering with an antenna recommended by our installer for over a year. I looked into the AT-400B before having an antenna installed. I thought this one would be good, but went with the installers recommendation instead. What a mistake. The old antenna was always dropping signals in the Pittsburgh area. Now that I’ve mounted the AT-400B, I get half a dozen more channels and all of the local channels come in at greater than 75%. We’ve not had dropped signals at all since i installed this antenna. We live near Pittsburgh with lots of hills, trees, etc. And the antenna is mounted all of 2 feet above the roof. Great product, easy to install and works very well.

This product is super easy to mount it high in the window without it being too noticeable. The cable was a little longer than some others, which was beneficial in my case. It provides good reception, as I hoped it would. Experimentally, I found highest possible window location was best.

    Dr. Jay

Antenna works well. I’m 50 miles from the transmitter. Granted it’s on a mountaintop and I’m on the fourth floor of a building that faces that way, but it gives me excellent reception and I’m not using the amplifier. On my window that faces the transmitter my TV says I have 100% signal strength, If I mount it on the wall behind my TV which is at 90 degrees (worst angle) to the transmitter I still get 92% signal strength.

This antenna is fantastic, I receive 40 more channels using this antenna The antenna looks nice and gets great reception according to your location. It does seem expensive, but it will pay for itself. I am using this and Sling TV on my Amazon Firestick, and save around $125.00 a month. Search for your local station tower & point your antenna in that direction.

    Wow! Impressive antenna.

    donjeasto

We live 59 miles from the nearest tower. I’ve had marginal luck with one long range antenna which brought in 2 stations fairly reliably when placed on our deck on top of a 12 foot pole.. Two other long range antennas brought in nothing.

I decided to try one more antenna before throwing in the towel so based on reviews, I ordered the ANTOP TV Antenna rated for up to 80 miles. After quick, easy assembly, I placed it on a table on our deck not expecting much since it was a rainy cloudy day and I hadn’t placed it higher on the pole. Surprisingly, scanning brought in 10 channels beautifully for both picture and sound. It didn’t hold the two PBS station signals all day although they came in great in the early morning. Now to see what happens when we install it permanently 25-30 feet higher on the roof. Also curious to see how it handles a splitter to add one more TV.

Looks to be quality materials and workmanship, too. I’m impressed with this antenna.

    Does what it claims

    verhoffjbv

Installed outside on my existing tv tower. I live in Ohio between Cleveland and Toledo. Toledo towers are 40-50 miles to the west and Cleveland towers are 50-60 miles to the east. My wife is originally from the Cleveland area and wanted to have the ability to receive the Cleveland channels. Although this antenna is multidirectional, I mounted it facing east (towards Cleveland). It came with enough cable to run down tv tower into my basement. I then unhooked the direct cable from the splitter that runs to 3 tv’s. Each tv had a dvr so I also unhooked each extra cable to those. I then turned on each tv and did the channel search. I get a total of 53 channels. The channels are from Cleveland and Toledo as well as a few from Akron and Mansfield. Picture is just as good as directv. Some of the Toledo and Akron channels will pixelate from time to time, but plenty of channels to chose from when that happens. Although this antenna is much more expensive then most on amazon, it works very well and pays for itself within 1-2 months. Have not had the need to deal with support so cannot comment on that, which I’d also a plus. Highley reccomend. If something changes I will repost.

Thank you Mr. Pollentes, You should be fine with a 4 way split, however, keep in mind the more you split it is possible that the signal can weaken.

    Tom Rutchik

    Over-The-Air Seattle - PhinneyRidge

    Tom Rutchik

After a long a search of antennas on the market I settled for this one. From reading the reviews what’s clear is if you get what you deem good reception, you love it, if you don’t get good reception you hate it. Unfortunately there are factors outside of your control in determining which one will work for you. What I finally determine was the best strategy, is just to make sure that you can return it if it doesn’t work for your particular location.

With that said, I ordered this one from Amazon, on a Monday, had it delivery on Tuesday. In my situation, I was planning it to be an outdoor installation, but on Tuesday night I of course want to see how it works so did a temporary indoor hook up. I live near the top of Phinney Ridge neighborhood in Seattle. My tv room is downstairs in a half daylight basement. Not a great place for reception. And to make matters worst, the room is located on the far side of house away from most of the transmission antenna. But to my surprise, I picked up about 26 stations and most had great transmission quality, some station had pixelization errors. I’m sure that if I played around with the antenna in the basement I would have found the acceptable sweet stop to put it. I did notice that for even stations that I was getting good transmission, it was susceptible to pixelization error as we moved about. I think that’s a testimonial to it high sensitivity. It can pick up signals so weak that objects live people moving in the area effect transmission.

On Wednesday, I connected to a temporary location near the roof of the top. I connected outside my house where COMCAST use to enter my home. I received all 26 station with no pixilation errors. There are 4-5 stations that the tv scan finds whose signal is two weak to receive. By the way, we had snow that night in Seattle. The snow did not affect reception.

This weekend I hooked the antenna up to its pernament outdoor location (bottom edge 2 feet above pick of house) and hooked up a second bedroom tv. Reception is the same for both tv’s.

This morning, I turned my CenturyLink prism STB’s back to them and shut that service down. I was paying $146 monthly for their service. I no longer have to spend my time scrolling thought the hundreds of entries of stations that I don’t get unless I want to even pay more money.

For Seattle people, all the major networks broacast at 1080. Some of the more local stations broadcast at 780 and a few at 420. Sure, its not the same amount of content you can get from the cable providers but I’m happier with what I get now from Over-the-Air.

So bottom line, I’m very happy with this antenna. What made me go for this one, was, that it had a 75% approval rating, it was multi-directional (I really didn’t want outdoor rotor) and it not too unsightly. I was also strongly influence by one review, where the reviewer conjecture that the signal was being amplified back by the antenna. He though, after hearing a relay click sond in the antenna itself, that the power is transmitted to the antenna, where the signal is amplier and that the ampified signal is then sent from the antenna to the tv; as opposed to sending the unamplified signal to the signal booster. I don’t know it that’s what its doing or not, since non of the antenna manufacturers really describe their antenna design, but if that’s true I like the sound of that approach, so that was the sincher for me; and if it did’t work, I’d return it a try someone other antenna.

The one I purchased is the Antop AT-400B. They is also an Antop 400BV which costs about $50 more and the claims to have a 10 mile less reception distance. I could not really discern a difference between the two so I went for this one. In the Seattle area, an 80 mile antenna might be able to pick up the Victoria, BC transmission towers. I don’t think I’m picking up any reception for those towers from my location. The digital broadcast info that I see on my tv doen’t make it clear from what antenna the station is being broadcasted from.

We cut the cable! This antenna allows to view all the local channels and a few others. I think we are getting 31 channels right now. We have it on a pole that sits about 6 1/2 feet off the ground for best reception. We have had an antenna that had to be rotated to get pictures on different channels. Great antenna, works perfectly, saved me $70 month with comcast and being able to make that call and get that monkey off our backs was a plus. I would have liked a little more cable, about 10′ more or so, but that doesn’t effect the antenna’s functionality.

Works in the lower level of my home and looks fabulous.

    Barbara Bailey

This product is worth the price tag. I was able to use a cheap antenna in my bedroom and get 50 channels but my family room is downstairs and on the other side of the house. I tried two different brand antennas and received about 10-12 channels. I finally decided that in my “Cutting the cord” process I might want to invest what my last cable bill was and see if this works. Based off the reviews I decided to give it a try. Received the antenna and decided to try to use it in the family room not on the roof top. I had it in one place by my TV and ran the channel search and received about thirty channels. Moved the antenna a few feet the other way closer to a window and there it was about 60 channels and no need to put it on the roof which is worth it to me. No regrets, fabulous product and no more cable bill YYAAEEE. Wanted to mention the product is well built and not visually offensive at all.

    I'm a happy customer.

    orickoh

Wow. I cut the cord with DirecTv and installed this on my exterior wall. Did a channel scan and it picked up 93 channels! I’m a happy customer. Update: My installation is now final. I am driving 3 tv sets with cable runs of 40′, 50′ and 75′. All is well. Of the 93 channels I can pick up, I’ve blocked all but 6 of them. One thing to watch for: It comes with a 40′ coax cable to go between the antenna and the amp. I didn’t need a long cable for that so I substituted a DirecTv cable I had just removed. I did a channel scan and had lost half of my channels. I went back to the OEM cable and all is well again. I didn’t go back to see if the shorter cable was faulty but keep this in mind if you have reception issues. UPDATE: After a couple of days, I began to get screen freezes and broken reception. I figured it was because of long cable runs and thought I might need a different/more powerful amp. But then, as another reviewer wrote… I remembered the instructions saying that you might not NEED the built in amp. I turned it off and everything is perfect now so if you find you’re having trouble don’t forget to try this.

I live in Decatur IL and I decided I wanted free channels I’ve tried other less quality antennas in the past, but let me tell ya. You get what you pay for. The antenna Web YouTube videos websites helped me out picking the right antenna. Its mounted 20 ft on my old dish tripod with supplied braket. It comes with 3 way splitter and 4G 3g/amplifier. I used my existing directv cable line runs and installation was easily after your done check the Websites for were your towers are located and point it then make sure you position it to get as many channels as possible. My results were 25 channels during the day and I re scanned at night and pulled in a total of 32 channels. But anyhow I would recommend this product. Also it is weather resistant and uv resistant.

I was setting up a TV at a site 47-50 miles from most of the main stations in my area. I tried a powered antenna with a “70 mile range” – it discovered 1 station. I immediately returned it and purchased the ANTOP 80 Mile antenna. On the first channel scan found over 60 stations! Reception is very clear. I couldn’t be happier with it.

    Great product

    Aiveii

I got this in an effort to “cut the cord”. I installed it outside on the second floor of my home. Installation was easy and I was able to route the cables to the cable/coax box on the side of my house. I used a splitter to get the signal to all of my TVs. I had trouble at first with a solid signal (picture focus changed every second or two), but after re-reading the directions, it said the supplied filter may not be needed (turns out it wasn’t). My TVs are 2-3 years old and the standard stuff on the market today. Once I connected the wires and ran the Auto Channel search on each TV, all the channels available were found and programmed into the TV. The picture is really clear and I haven’t had any problems. I don’t regret leaving cable at all. ANTOP antenna is so great!!! Any 1-time shows, movies can be purchased through other places rather than paying a monthly fee to only want basic shows (this is at least what happens in my house). I would highly recommend this product.

    ACL

FM ANTOP Antenna for Radio/ Great reception.
The FM radio antenna works well with the stereo system. It gives clear reception so I am able to enjoy my favorite music or radio station.

I like the fact that it is thin, lightweight, looks artistic with its slight curve shape and doesn’t take up a lot of space. It is black and looks nice next to the stereo and TV and all the other electronics. I can place it on the entertainment center and it doesn’t look out of place. Other antennas I have seen were bulky or metallic looking so they were more of an eyesore.

Make sure your stereo system has a cable coaxial on your equipment so you can connect the cable wire to it….

I have to say I am impressed with the unit. I disconnected my DIRECTV and took down the dish and used the existing mount. I also replaced the splitter. I am 50 miles from the towers and get 48 channels. I had another antenna from another company which I paid 89.00 for and returned it. The quality was subpar and didn’t function correctly. If you want quality and function this is the beast.

    Judy L.

Best antenna that we have tried - we get more local channels than ever

    Judy L.

We live in a rural area with a lot of huge trees and are about 60 miles from Chicago. We have bought indoor antennas in the past that we got only 6 Rockford station, and even those weren’t very clear. With this antenna set up indoors, we can now get as many as 18 channels, and some are Chicago stations. Depending on how we turn the antenna, we can also get a few Wisconsin channels.

Since we can get so many channels indoors, we are considering putting this antenna on the roof in the spring. The greatest difficulty in doing this would be positioning the antenna to get the most channels available. We cut the cord on satellite TV this last year, and have been very happy with internet TV, but when New Year’s came, we couldn’t watch any of the New Year’s celebrations because we didn’t have any of the local channels. What a bummer!! That won’t happen again for the next New Year’s with this antenna.

One other thing I should mention is that this antenna is much larger than it looks in the pictures. It is 23″ tall (not including the stand) and 10″ wide. This isn’t a problem for us, but it may be a consideration for indoor use. The antenna includes a stand for use indoors, and also includes hardware and cables for a couple of outdoor configurations. Outdoors, it can be attached to the roof, a wall, or a mounting post.

Excellent antenna worth your consideration and purchase

This is the third indoor capable antenna I tried. It is the last one I will try. This worked where two others, including the Mohu leaf, did not. This is also quite a bit more expensive; but, when cutting the cord, a purchase like this will be valuable for years to come.

The downside is this is much larger than other antennas that are strictly marketed as indoor. But, with precise placement, I was able to get all the channels I wanted and couldn’t get with the other antenna’s I tried. Based on distance of channels, I am able to reach signals slightly over 80 miles away.

If your current antenna doesn’t quite cut it, it is worth upgrading to this one. If you are in the market for an antenna, drop the extra cash for this product and end your search.

    So far so good

Got this for the roof, I live in the Atlanta north side. I deployed this inside just to test. Something I do not recommend because the signal will fade if you or someone else walks near the unit. My first scan came back around 41 channels, after I mounted it on the roof the scan came back with over 103. Now there are a ton of independent channels and also radio stations that also were picked up, but the quality was damn good.

I deducted 1 star because of the company spamming / annoying me via internal mail system to remind me to leave feedback. Antop, for future customers one mail is enough.

Awesome antenna for indoor and outdoor. Picks up incredible number of stations

I am an electrical engineer and a long time ham radio enthusiast. As such, I’ve studied, built and measured a lot of antennas in my life. When I first opened the box, I knew this was going to be a good one. You can tell that it is designed more like a professional grade communications antenna than your typical cheap consumer grade TV antenna.

First off, the mounting is versatile and sturdy, with three different options: floor/table stand, pole or wall. If mounted on a pole or wall, the mount also swivels in order to adjust the angle +/-20 degrees.

Secondly, the antenna comes with an amplifier and LTE filter which appears to be mounted inside the antenna itself. I didn’t open it up, but I surmised this by the fact that you can hear the audible click of a relay inside the antenna when you switch it on. Also, the electronic unit is labeled as a DC injector, which would back this up. This is very good design, since you really want both of these devices at the antenna, and not 40 feet away where the amplifier is useless.

Third, it is hard to compare TV antennas because the manufactures don’t publish electrical engineering style measurements and numbers (gain, antenna pattern). However, they rate this as an “80 mile antenna”, which is equivalent to a rather large and ugly “yagi” beam (you know, the old style roof mount TV antenna that looks like an arrow). While I can’t confirm this for sure, I can say that I live in a location with very poor reception. With a normal indoor TV antenna, I don’t get a single channel. I mounted this antenna outdoors by hanging it from a 2nd story window. To my surprise, I received stations all over the place, including in Mexico and up to Los Angeles (I’m in San Diego). So for me, this is more like a >120 mile antenna.

If you are curious, my mount consisted of a 1″ PVC pipe that was inserted such that it extends over the top of the antenna. I drilled a hole through the PVC pipe at the top. I then ran a small nylon rope through the top and let it hang from a hook on the inside of the house. I was able to close the window completely with a little force.
