It depends on where you live and how far you are from the broadcast tower.
We placed the antenna as high as possible on the window and after moving the antenna and rescanning for channels, it pulled in the most channels in the southeast of my location.

It seems to be better suited for areas with weak or moderate signals, my house is far from the broadcast tower, I put him on my bedroom cabinet pointed in the direction of not many obstacles, I turned it vertically and was able to rotate it and now it picks up most of the available channels.

It is larger than many other indoor antennas, making it potentially better at receiving low frequency VHF signals. There is a power booster unit that provides power near the TV in my area. It sends power through the antenna’s coaxial cable back to the preamplifier that is actually located inside the antenna wand. This is cool to me.

It looked too good to be true and was. I was attracted by the small indoor footprint but I should have followed my instinct. I live around 25 miles from the transmitter and would say signal strength is good. This pulled in around 60 channels with quite good being pixilated and stable.

My house is located in a medium distance from the signal tower, sometimes I can’t receive extra channels, and this antenna I put it outside the window, it has an amplifier, just turn the dial to adjust the received power of the antenna, and I am surprised to find that I can get something that I didn’t have before channel! so happy!

I have bought multiple Terk and Mohu antennas for OTA broadcasts. Each one had the inability to receive High VHF channels. I have two stations that broadcast on those frequencies in my area. I bought the Antop-500SBS and I immediately received both stations I could not receive before. And I could get them all day and night. But do not rely on this being an omni-directional antenna. You have to find the “sweet spot” just like any other TV antenna. But, as an added bonus, I have 80 channels in my queue. Not all of them come in all of the time, but at night I receive all of the channels from another major metropolitan area. The “Antenna Man” on YouTube did not lie. This antenna is pretty, but it also performs!!

We had purchased this antenna to replace Mohu Leaf and RCA antennaes. Live in a “dead zone” area for signals in Southern California (all come in from North, but no windows on north side of our building), adjacent to a hospital and an airport. We had hoped for better VHF reception, but in fact lost a couple of VHF channels with the Antop that we had previously. However, one significant difference I noted was the scrambling during wind, which had been pretty bad with the other antennaes at times. We still do experience scrambling with the Antop, but it isn’t nearly as bad and resolves itself much quicker than with the Mohu and RCA models. We’ve had it for two months or so and I do feel it is a better experience than previous, also the fact that we are servicing two TVs with it makes me feel the purchase was worth it. I think the real issue is my location is regrettable for reception generally. But given the circumstances, I think I have the best antennae for my home.

This was my first time ordering from ANTOP and the process was quick, easy, and my order arrived very fast. I ordered the AT-500SBS HD Smart Bar antenna in hopes that I would be able to view local over the air stations. Unfortunately, due to my location and terrain, I was unable to pick up any channels and returned the antenna. The customer service were helpful when I called to request the return shipping label.

Wow! I was quite surprised by how easy it was to install this antenna and then how well it worked. Got 94 channels on the first scan. Just set it beside the window near tv to see if it would work and after easy setup, we had a beautiful picture on our TV. We even had very bad storm last night and never lost our signal. The Smart Bar performs well enough for my wife’s rural location, as detailed on YouTube. However, this purchase was soured by Antop’s poor customer service (no response) & possible false advertising (lack of 10% discount 1st purchase as advertised for subscribing). Though I had intended to purchase another unit for my own location, I will not buy another product from Antop because of this experience.

Nice lightweight compact design! Easy to assemble. Gets good signals of all major channels. I live about 35 miles north of Oregon. I can get about 53 channels, including all the major networks like ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX… There are few instruction videos on YouTube, just search 500sbs.

I am on the intracoastal waterway near St. Augustine, and have a clear view south and north, My home is perched up 3 stories with no nearby blocking from any structure, on a clear day with no cloud cover I have good reception for just under 50 miles. I get more reach if there is cloud cover

Hooking the ANTOP AT-500SBS up was easy enough, it only took a couple minutes to find its sweet spot over by the window. I’m now watching 47 beautiful clear channels.. no adjusting required.. I’d give it 10 stars if I could.
